Geneva, Switzerland – February 4, 2025

President Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, Vice President of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council and President of the Southern Transitional Council, delivered a speech on the International Day of Human Fraternity at the International Forum for Tolerance and Combating Extremism, held at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva on February 4, 2025. In his address, he highlighted several key points:

In addition to other matters, he discussed the following points:

Strategic Importance of Southern Yemen: President Al-Zubaidi emphasized the global ramifications of terrorist control over critical maritime areas. He called for strengthening international partnerships, particularly with Western nations, to secure the Bab al-Mandeb Strait and the Gulf of Aden and to continue combating terrorism in Southern Yemen to maintain international security and peace.

Security Challenges: He addressed the formidable security challenges faced by the Southern Transitional Council in confronting terrorist groups such as Al-Qaeda, ISIS, and the Houthi terrorist group, despite their limited experience and resources.

Commitment to Peace and Tolerance: President Al-Zubaidi underscored the unwavering determination of the people of the south to uphold universal values of peace and tolerance and their commitment to combating extremism and terrorism for regional and global stability.

The International Organization for the Least Developed Countries (OIPMA) recommends all United Nations member states to view President Al-Zubaidi’s speech as an early warning, and call for working together..

OIPMA recommends the international community to establish and strengthen partnerships with the Southern Transitional Council to secure the Bab al-Mandeb Strait and the Gulf of Aden and to enable continued efforts against extremism and terrorism in Southern Yemen to ensure the preservation of international security and peace.

الأهمية الاستراتيجية لجنوب اليمن: شدد الرئيس الزبيدي على التداعيات العالمية للسيطرة الإرهابية على المناطق البحرية الحيوية. ودعا إلى تعزيز الشراكات الدولية، خاصة مع الدول الغربية، لتأمين مضيق باب المندب وخليج عدن، ومواصلة مكافحة الإرهاب في جنوب اليمن للحفاظ على الأمن والسلام الدوليين.

التحديات الأمنية: تناول التحديات الأمنية الكبيرة التي يواجهها المجلس الانتقالي الجنوبي في مواجهة الجماعات الإرهابية مثل القاعدة وداعش وجماعة الحوثي الإرهابية، رغم قلة خبرتهم ومواردهم المحدودة.

الالتزام بالسلام والتسامح: أكد الرئيس الزبيدي على العزم الثابت لشعب الجنوب على الدفاع عن القيم العالمية للسلام والتسامح، والتزامهم بمكافحة التطرف والإرهاب من أجل الاستقرار الإقليمي والعالمي.

لذلك، تدعو المنظمة الدولية للبلدان الأقل نموا كافة الدول الأعضاء في الأمم المتحدة إلى اعتبار كلمة الرئيس الزبيدي تحذير مبكر،

توصي المنظمة المجتمع الدولي على إقامة وتعزيز الشراكات مع المجلس الانتقالي الجنوبي لتأمين مضيق باب المندب وخليج عدن، وتمكين الجهود المستمرة لمكافحة التطرف والإرهاب في جنوب اليمن لضمان الحفاظ على الأمن والسلام الدوليين
